I'll be using it for paying bills online,taxes,music,games,and pictures...but mostly games.My budget is $1500 dollars.

If you put an approximately 5”x 5” and 2” thickness magnet on a Labtop, DVD Player or LCD monitor, will the magnet damages them?

I was on my gateway laptop, which I bought about there months ago. I didn't have the battery in so it was plugged in…. Until I accidentally unplugged it… When I turned it back on all my documents in Microsoft Word, Pictures, and some software was completely gone!!! While other softwear was still there. I don't get it the plug came out, and this has happen before without me losing my work.... so when the laptop turned on again my work was gone! I tried restoring my computer but this does not work.
How can I get my work back!????
Oh and all my internet favorites were also gone.

I don't really know much about a good laptop. All I know is that I need a laptop to store college lectures and listen to those lectures without any problems.. and maybe to type up some papers and research the internet when necessary. here are the specs:

whats the best Notebook for Emailing, Chating (like yahoo messenger) Photoshop(i have the program but need a good notebook for it.) and gaming all in one! i play WoW.. hehe.. Nothing over $1600.. and no desktops cuz i hate them... Any experts? thanks!

always looking at question and answer sites to help me with problems, at mo. i have a very slow laptop even though on broadband and read that to go to run, type msconfig ,start up then delete anything not essential to microsoft. trouble is i dont really understand any of the programs named so wouldnt know if there safe to delete or not ,hope someone knows what im on about as no expert on computers as you can gather ha!

I would like to purchase a laptop, I was told that toshiba makes a durable laptop. A friend is in the army and says alot of the guys take a toshiba laptop to afganistan with them. Should I be carefull about leaving my laptop computer in subzero temps for a long time (hours at a time). I wondre if its okay in my car for a few hours at subzero temps. I havn't done this yet, but I was wodering if I need to avoid this.
