Put the name of the start up programme into your search engine and you will be taken to a web page that will tell you if it is needed or not. I'm not sure that will speed up you broadband connection though - try looking for a 'speed test' site. This will tell you how fast your connection is. Final thought - go to Microsoft and look for information on your 'prefetch' file. This makes programmes start faster but can get bunged up over time. Good luck!

You could try defragmenting; cleaning up system files; deleting temporary files and cookies...or maybe a virus scan (Norton Anti Virus is really good) will find out if there's anything affecting the speed on your laptop's system. Mine's pretty fast but i've only had it since last October lol.

Hi

OK , what you are looking at is the startup softwares loading with windows , now microsoft loads ONLY what IT THINKS it needs , has to WHAT is each of them , you have to search the support pages on microsoft. Now for all the others software NO RELATED to microsoft , that depends ON THE SOFTWARES install in your laptop , now , if you want to speed a little more your laptop then you may need TO TWEAK it , for that do a search in google with the string

AVG is free. A test was done a week ago or so that showed what programs slowed down your computer the most. Norton was #1 on the list.

You may want to clean up and uninstall programs you don't use. Spyware will clog up a lot of files delete your temp files and cookies too.

Consider getting a upgrade in memory also this will help.

www.ewido. com - works excellent on spyware removal.

try defragment, sytem cleanup or just go through your computer and delete files you dont need, your computer may be infected with spyware but that should help, my laptop is 2 years old and is still fast.

Try searching for sypwear and adaware. Or you may have a virus. Then try disk cleanup, or defragment it.
