stand back and wait for it to explode - was it made by Sony? - that battery that is

Dell, Apple, & Sony laptop seem to have the problem - possibly others as well. Sounds like the actual risk is fairly low of this acutally happening but probably worth checking it out.

not so sure it this problem may be related to it draining quickly or not - if it's an older battery - it could just be wearing out - it's not likely the charger. Do you drain it fully eveery now and agin before re-charging it? If not - try that a couple times and see if it helps.

The battery was being charged during this period? Or you had unplugged it and are shocked at the rate at which the battery was consumed?

Many of the laptop batterys that actualy come with the computer lose power very quickly so you should try to have it plugged in when you are going to use it. There is nothing unusual about that. However if it was actually plugged in then I would test the charger.

How long did you charge it for? If it was only a couple hours or less, it could have been a "false charge". This means the battery was never fully charged in the first place, even though it read 100%. This is common for electronic products.

My suggestion would be to keep it plugged in, all the time.
Depending on your useage of the puter, the battery will either last quite a while, or will die in less than 60 minutes..and, of course, it also depends on what type of battery, ie, how good the battery is.

My laptop battery does the same.

Clean out old files, pictures, documents, etc.

I would also try to get a high quality battery, if you do buy a new battery.
