I recommend using a cellular network card from Sprint, Cingular, or Verizon - they are about $60 - $70 per month. Check their individual websites for more information. These will allow you to connect to the internet anywhere you have a compatible wireless (cellular) signal.
I use mine on commuter trains, public parks, etc. Very useful!

You would have to buy a card that inserts into your laptop. Usually you have to do this with a internet provider. I called about getting one with Verizon and they wanted to charge me 75 dollars a month for it. It all depends on if you are using your laptop for buisness and if the buisness means that much to pay a high internet fee to be able to use it anywhere you go.

Depending on your location, Sprint has a wireless option that does NOT depend on WiFi hotspots. It does depend on cell phone towers nearby with data signal. Not all Sprint towers have data signal.
I believe Cingular has something similar also.

Normally what you do is buy your laptop, any laptop with a PCMCIA slot, then you buy a wireless card from Sprint, T-mobile or many others. here is a link to the sprintpcs:
http://www1.sprintpcs.com/explore/servicePlansOptionsV2/DataPlans.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=1477403&CURRENT_USER%3C%3EATR_SCID=ECOMM&CURRENT_USER%3C%3EATR_PCode=None&CURRENT_USER%3C%3EATR_cartState=group&planNavLocator=_Shop_plansCoverage_plansOptions_dataPlans_
copy and paste
and for about $40 a month you will be on the internet anywhere there is sprint reception... don't you think that is going to be as fast as broadband... is slower, is just everywhere.

Hi. You will need one of those wireless internet cards that work over the cellphone system.
