Here is a rule of thumb that you as a consumer should live by....wait until people find out how well something works until you buy it.

Microsoft Vista looks very pleasing to the eye. But when it comes to the protection of your computer and files there has not been much information out there yet with finding the bugs in Vista. If i were you I would stick with Microsoft XP and wait until 9mths to 1year before upgrading. Wait until all of the kinks are out. Stick with XP for the time being and don't get a dell laptop. Go get an HP they hardly change their hardware and are very reliable pieces of equiptment

bypass ahead and get it because you're enthusiastic about it. Gateway will only be particular you've drivers for all of your hardware, so the computer itself must be fantastic. Microsoft is liberating loads of patches, so see you later as you position your computer as a lot as receive updates then you genuinely ought to get the recent patches immediately. do not forget that Vista is clean, and assorted. it will be troublesome before everything in view that there is going to be a studying curve. nonetheless, evidently very tremendous and has some good helpful homes. i ought to propose you to purchase a e book on Vista (believe it or no longer, "Vista for dummies" is a good reference, and low-cost besides. And it has good cartoons) and skim up on it so that you'll get the most out of the device.

Get it BEFORE it is infected with Vista.
Vista will seriously degrade ANY media that you copy and won't run third party drivers unless they are "approved" by Microsoft.
Example: If you buy a cheap digital camera from Walmart. You may not be able to connect it to your computer because the driver hasn't been "approved".
Also, Dell has a habit of making upgrading difficult. They change some of the wiring harnesses.
