can a cd be damaged by magnetizing it?

No. CD's are not like tapes. CD's use binary code which is read off the CD using the laser in your CD player. Magnets would have no affect on the CD at all. Don't forget to cut me in. LOL

I don't believe that a CD can be damaged by magnetizing it, and if you really want to find out for sure then just take a CD and a magnet and try it out for your self.

What do you mean by 'magnetizing it'?

If you mean, putting magnets to or near the CD, then no, in that way it can't be damaged.

CD;s are created by a Laser buring information into a special optical layer. therefore there is no way magnetism can cause any damage.
