earlier today, on my dell inspiron 1501, I went to right-clicked properties on my computer (where the window comes up that says all the info about your system), and processor speed read something like 748 Mhz, where it always read 1.60 Ghz. Just a few minutes ago, I checked out properties again and processor speed read 1.99 Ghz. is there some reason why I somehow lost processor speed then apparently gained back the lost speed with interest?

I just bought a nicely loaded Toshiba lap top and I let the battery on it charge over night but it still only lasted about 45 minutes. Is this normal or should I take it back?

I just got a new battery to replace my old battery which was dead. When the new battery came to me, it had a charge, I could tell by pushing in the button on the side and 4 of the 5 lights came on green. I put the battery in my computer and it said it was charging it. Then, it went to zero percent charged. I took the battery out and pushed the button and now only the first light comes on and blinks green. How can the battery go from being almost completly charged to not at all? The third party I bought the battery from said to upgrade my BIOS, but I tried that, and it said my BIOS were already up-to-date. Any ideas?

Okay, I have an HP laptop. Specs not really important for this Question, now the piece of metal junk has crashed on me for the second time, the first time, i reinstalled operating system and all, and it worked. A week later, it crashed, and now when i try installing the operating system, it gets to the part where I have to choose which drive or whatever to install xp on, no matter what option i click, the thing flashes an error message, and tells me it must shut down to prevent damage to computer. Obviously it ain't bright cause the comp is already damaged. If i start it without operating system is reads operating system not found, and shuts off after a few minutes. What do I need to do to fix this? Do I need to just buy a new internal hard drive? or is the comp totaled? i'm thinking maybe hard drive is just piece of garb, but i'm no expert that's why i'm asking anyone out their. Your answers are definitely appreciated and helpful, thank you all in advance.

I'm about to buy a new laptop and am looking for suggestions on what specs I should get. I'm going to be using it at school (i'm a college student) and will be running programs like AutoCAD, Photoshop, a limited number of games, and also for downloading music and photos. I was also thinking about getting a TV tuner and/or GPS system because I travel a lot. I'm looking for suggestions on how much memory I should get, harddrive capacity, processor specs, brand issues, etc etc etc. I don't think I can have a mac, although I would love one.
