Hi!

I recently purchased a HP laptop, and I need to make recovery discs for it ... Would someone be able to assist me with a step-by-step description of how I can make these?

Thank you =)

Yes, it should have come with its own software for doing so, in fact, it should have prompted you when you first booted it to make recovery CDs (or DVDs). That's what my Acer laptop did.

Many computers come with a recovery partition (that's my guess here) and if the whole hard drive crashes then you will lose that recovery data as well.

It is advisable to burn some recovery DVDs (I'd forget about CDs) but I don't know what utilities they bundled with it but instructions should be in the manual somewhere (they were with my Acer, not that I needed them).

Whatever the case, start the burning software that was bundled with your computer, mine came with NTI but use whatever you have. In the main screen or burning options there should be something that says "Create Disk Image" or "Backup Disk", something like that. Select that and it will create a backup of your entire hard drive, follow the screens and proceed from there.

Don't forget to have plenty of blank CD media or DVD media. It will take about five or six CDs to backup a hard drive. Whereas it will only take one to three blank DVDs.

There should be a icon on the desktop to do this. Just get 4 or 5 cdr or cdrw disk ready and follow the prompts
