i am about to change my cd-rom drive and was wondering if there is an alternate for the anti- static electricity wrist starp or if i do not need anything to conduct away the static. I was thinking that if i changed the drive on top of wooden floor it would work but am not sure. tell me if i need any special thing or if my suggestion works. (PLZ ANSWER)

i want to know what programs i need to keep on my computer so that it would keep working, but i want to delete the programs that i don't neccesarily need and that are taking up space. can someone please help meee =)

When I boot up my desktop, a pop-up error message with the title "RUNDLL" always appears :

"Error loading C:\WINDOWS\system32\fdmwuncp.dll
The specified module could not be found."

I checked the system32 folder for fdmwuncp.dll and it is indeed missing.

What is fdmwuncp.dll and its functions?

I think that it may be the following but please correct me.
Whenever I make my desktop "sleep" (there is a button on the keyboard that says "zzz") and then get it to operate again (by pressing the CPU button, it usually goes into a blue screen that says something along the lines of
"Your disk needs to be checked for consistency."
otherwise, it sometimes goes into The Blue Sceen of Death. What the information is in the screen, I cannot remember.

To summarize, I wish to know :
1. What is fdmwuncp.dll and its function(s)?
2. What should I do when the situation happens?

Here are my specs:
Windows Vista Premium 36 bit.
AMD Athlon 5000 (2.6ghz)
NVidia GeForce 8300 GS video card
1GB RAM
100+GB left

Also, I have Unreal Tournament 3 and it runs perfect! but I don't know why it is slow on this less than a month old computer. I am only able to watch others online on Youtube play so fast on their computer. Plz I need help!!

what is better a Nvidia 7600 gs or ati radeon x1650?

Things that made it hard for me to choose:

-Some games work better with th 7600 gs and some work better with the ati x1650
-Many Games come with the nvidia logo on them.
-The ati radeon x1650 (i think) has better gpu specifications
-The nvidia 7600 gs is more expensive.

About 2 1/2 years old but has been upgraded.
Basic Dell Dimension 4700 motherboard and 300W PSW

I've got an AMD based system, WinXPsp2, Hitachi HDT72503 320GB SATA hard drive.

When I was installing Windows, I had to run the Hitachi Boot Disk first, and when doing this I made sure I selected the "Maximum capacity" option and this showed the full 320GB, but after installing Windows it only shows 127GB.

Yes, I tried re-installing and looking at all the options on the boot disk program (and there aren't that many) but I've still got the same problem.

Anyone got any idea how I can solve this?

I just installed a dual core processor into my computer and I was wondering if there was anything I had to do to make my games recgonize it. I have Crysis, S.T.A.L.K.E.R, Bioshock, and The Orange Box, all games I heard use multithreading. So would there be a setting or something I need to change, or should it happen automatically?

I bought a new computer and it has nothing installed on it, such as windows or anything and i need to install windows pro and get my key off my current computer and get it on to my other computer, how do i get my key so i can just put in my windows xp pro disk and take the key from the computer im using right now and put it on the better computer?

i have an hp pavilion 6630 its old and runs slow when i get on the internet or open apps! it has 64 mb shared memory and 10.2 gb hard drive and it has windows 98. i want to make it run faster or update it with more memory. where can i go and how much would i waste? any suggestions?

i don't really do any heavy duty gaming...
but i do play the sims 2 and i have all of it's expansion packs and quite a bit of custom content, so i'd like to be able to play it and it work relatively fast, yet still look good.
at the moment i'm playing it on a toshiba laptop and it's not working so well.
i don't have that much money to spend, around $1000 would be good, under would be even better. i'd like to only have to spend $500 dollars but i know that for a computer set(monitor, desktop, keyboard, etc.) that's almost impossible.

I'm planning to build a new computer with 4gig ram and I'm wondering how to install them. I know for Vista that you have to install 2gigs first then install the OS then install the next 2gigs to get the full 4gigs. Is XP like this or can I just put all of it in at once? Help, never used XP in my life.
