the new components i want are

-HIS HD 2600XT 256mb GDDR4 128-bit PCI-Ex16
-2GB PC2 6400 G-skill Memory
-Rosewill 500W power supply

i want to kno if this computer is even worth upgrading and if the parts are compatible. and if they are decent im on a small budget.my mobo does have a pci-ex16 and should i upgrade my CPU cooling or just replace with a better thermal compund??

I was hoping to get Ultra's modular series PSU @ tigerdirect.com but.. i have some bad problems with tigerdirect. used customer support, horrible people..... but i got my RAM, cooler, fans, and vista @ newegg.com with NO hassle.

Im looking for a good-brand 500 watt PSU up to $60 at newegg.com

can anyone find me one or suggest what brand?

Can I upgrade the CPU in my nearly 3 year old Dell Dimension 3000. I have an Intel Celeron 2.4 processor in it. It also has a gig of ram, and a 7200rpm hard drive. Was wondering if i could upgrade it myself? I am very mechanical and good with stuff like this, i just never have done anything this serious to my computer before. The reason I asked, is that I recently purchased a game that takes a 2.6 gigahertz processor, and I didn't realize it till I got it home and installed it and tried to play it. I don't want to buy a new computer if i can help it because i like this computer and its been a great computer for me.

i HAD a 400w antec psu,. then got some random oryxx 600w psu . but with the 600w psu i am noticing the led on my fans just seem dimmer? is it worth changing back to my 400w.?

How do you get 8gbs of RAM into a computer? Also every motherboard that i've seen only has four holes so then the max RAM allowed is 4, so how do i get 8. is there 2gb ram chips? or does window xp/vista 64bit make it think different...such as 1 gb = 2gb....lol just guessing Please help

Ive just been able to turn on my home pc yestersday since the mid-west ice storm has taken power from me for 11 days now. My pc was on a surge protector but there is problems. When I turn my pc on I get a black screen that gives me options to (start windows normally), (start at last known good configuration), (start in safe mode), (sart in safe mode with networking). All options attempt to load the OS but bring me right back to the black screen with the previous options. should I begin a system recovery? I really dont want to loose my data files.

I Just recently reinstalled windows becasue of a hard drive problem. When I reninstalled windows the Ethurnet Controller drivers never reinstalled. Where can I find these drivers. Here are my computers specs

when i restart my pc my os boots and win 98se gets loaded. after that the icons come but i get a msg saying that "windows did not detect a mouse attached to computer . you can safely attach a serial mouse. to attach a mouse to PS/2 mouse port, you must first turn computer off.

my mouse gets hanged and i have to restart the pc. then it works. in safe mode i am able to shake the mouse cursor. but in normal mode it automatcially works. but again you shut down the pc and restart it it doesnt work. the mouse hangs and the msg come s again

My computer has had a virus for a while now, i've been trying to get rid of it but now there is nothing i can do but reboot the whole computer. When I installed the demo, it said it needed to install DX-9c.
But I already have DX-9c.
It also said "this version of Direct X will replace existing versions" or something like that.
