If you have an old pc around, you could take the hard drive out of that one and make a slave to this one.
Then you can transfer the pics over.
Alternatively, you could take the hard drive out of this one and make it a slave to another computer's hard drive.
Access and copy the pictures to that one and then fix the original.
This all assumes that contacting your antivirus provider to help you remove the virus does not work.
Good luck.

will it read any USB devices? if it will read an external hard drive you can store it on one of those. I'd WARN you that doing this may transfer the virus if it's attached to anything you move!!! Also, i have an mp3 player that is a hard-disk drive, so if you have something like that you can store them that way..... it sounds like your options of transferring data is quite limited though

If you know where the virus is, disable system restore, reboot the computer in 'safe mode' and delete the file(s) infected. This should solve the problem without reformatting (i think that's what you meant instead of reboot)

Maybe it's time to buy a new computer, if this one doesnt even have a CD drive then it's ancient in the age of computers, seeing as how they're starting to put HD-DVD and Blu Ray drives in them nowadays....

I think you mean "reformat" the whole thing.

If I were you, I would buy a new hard drive. They're not that expensive. Remove the old hard drive, and install the new one.

Get it all re-loaded and install a good virus protection program.

Then install your old hard drive as an additional "slave". The new hard drive will be the master and where the computer will boot from.

Have the virus protection program "clean" your old hard drive. Then you can transfer your pictures.

Or take it to the repair shop and let them clean the virus off for you.

ok, what you need to do is get another computer and (if you want to save your computer) download an illegal pro. computer repair program. I know im not being very specific but i know 15 year olds who use pro computer repair Programs so it should be easy to find. you need to take out your hard drive, and try repairing it with a friend or something by putting it in another computer. (the hard drive) then you use the software and i think it might work so save your photos. I had a similar problem and my friends brother managed to get All my photos and better yet, repair it. It was dead but he revived it. In fact this is the computer im using right now that had the same problem as you. So... i know im probably talking blah but if you have ANY computer guy friend, they'll know what i'm talking about. Hope this helps.

Right, this is a tough one. What you could do is you could buy a external hard drive and connect it to the computer and see if that works. Or you could get a memory stick, but as you say its not reading it then I wouldnt bother. Alternativly, you could take it to the tech guys in pc world and they might be able to sort it out but the problem with that is that you have to pay for it. Other than this all I can suggest is get a new hard drive and forget about your pictures.

Cheers.

You should be able to start your computer in "safe mode", install virus protection software, and restart the system. After loading the software, like Norton Anti-virus or McAffee, and restarting, run a scan. this ought to remove or quarantine the virus so that you can again use your computer normally. Your only other option as I see it is to install a secondary hard drive on the system and transfer the specific files you need to the new hard drive. Then you can re-load windows on the corrupted drive.

yup there is a manual way if you know what the name of the virus is go to task manager and look for a prosses with that name or, type them in google (or yahoo as im on there site) and eventually you should find one that comes up as virus or trojan, then find out when u know the name of the virus, how to manually delete it. P.S if u cant get on internet i sugest that you borrow a laptop or somthing and have it next to the computer.

the only possible solution is...
A. install a usb reader thingy...
B. install a cd drive/burner
C. is your computer on a network? if it is, share your folder with all the picuters and have a friend with a laptop save it to there computer, if u dont have LAN (network)... then ask someone to let you borrow there modem...

i dont know how messed up your computer is, but if it isnt that bad i would do number C. there isnt really much else you can do to save your pictures before you reformat your hard drive

good luck

if you can connect your hard drive to your friends hard drive ( he must have a very good anti virus software installed eg: bit defender 2008 or kaspersky ) then u can save your pictures in his drive and format and reinstall ur applications from scratch... provided if you can reboot ur comp which will not make you loose your pictures...

Talk to one of those nerds in the halls that you always make fun of, give them the hard drive and they'll save the pictures.
