When I boot up my desktop, a pop-up error message with the title "RUNDLL" always appears :

"Error loading C:\WINDOWS\system32\fdmwuncp.dll
The specified module could not be found."

I checked the system32 folder for fdmwuncp.dll and it is indeed missing.

What is fdmwuncp.dll and its functions?

I think that it may be the following but please correct me.
Whenever I make my desktop "sleep" (there is a button on the keyboard that says "zzz") and then get it to operate again (by pressing the CPU button, it usually goes into a blue screen that says something along the lines of
"Your disk needs to be checked for consistency."
otherwise, it sometimes goes into The Blue Sceen of Death. What the information is in the screen, I cannot remember.

To summarize, I wish to know :
1. What is fdmwuncp.dll and its function(s)?
2. What should I do when the situation happens?

Thank you for taking your time to read through this and is seek your advice.

this is most likely spyware. First run ad-aware 2007 and let it do its magic. Then, click start, run, and type in sfc /scannow in the box and press enter. This will check all your Windows XP system files for consistency. If it finds something that is not consistent, it will ask you for your windows CD. Makes sure you put that in and click retry. It will then continue to repair the files.

I don't know exactly what it is. dll stuff is sometimes viruses. Sometimes partially loaded or removed viruses can cause these problems. One virus file is looking for another, perhaps log file, and can't find it.
If you can find the name and location of the file trying to access fdmwuncp and check the date it was created you can see if it is one of your original system files or if it was created at a later date. All original sytem files should have been created before you bought your computer or when you installed/upgraded your windows. If it was created later and it's in one of your system directories like win32 or system32 or prefetch, it's probably not required for you sytem to work properly and can be just deleted.

it a system file that somehow got currupted/deleted by maybe when you deleted a folder or program that it somehow went with
i.e (deleting this program could make some programs not work)

you will have to reboot your computer (as in reinstall the O.S not restart)

insert the O.S disk
turn off computer
turn on computer
press f12 right when the screen comes on
run from CD/Disk
delete the partion that has space used
iinstall the O.S on the clean partion

i know that might not make sense but when you follow the on screen prompts and read the options it will

It would help to know what Operating System you are running. Windows is made up over hundreds of DLL's, so, you can't really tell what function it does just by the name of it or the symptom of your computer. If other DLL's were deleted, you would have similar computer problems, so you can't just say that "fdmwuncp.dll" is something for when you put your computer to sleep. "fdmwuncp.dll" is not a Windows XP control, so if you are running Windows XP, it may just be a virus.

I'm not sure what fdmwuncp.dll is, but I might know how to fix your problem. Have you tried repairing Windows? To do this, you put your OS CD-ROM in your disk drive, then shut down your computer. When the boot screen comes up, press F12. Choose to boot from disk, then choose Repair Windows. That should solve the problem.

Do it the terrific way - plug the modem in and enable the computer set itself up. the only element you prefer from that installation disk is the digital mail application Tiscali provides - IF it fairly is the single you prefer to apply. there are a number of good, unfastened digital mail classes available and you need to truly look at a number of them whilst you are going to deal with your digital mail with a application, no longer out of your provider's information superhighway website. yet you do no longer prefer a disk to have your computer set itself up for an information superhighway connection. Any computer (laptop or computer) made interior the final 5 years or so is already "set up" for information superhighway connection. (And, confident, i'm a working laptop or computer 'geek' - i've got been earning my residing designing computers and classes on account that 1975.)

get on the Internet and type in any search like yahoo search or msn search and type MSRT which is malicious software removal tool from Microsoft and run a full system scan or use this link
http://www.microsoft.com/security/malwareremove/default.mspx
this will remove any malicious software that is in your system
after doing this, download a registry cleaner or repair with a file recovery to correct the win 32 error
and make sure you have a good virus protection on you computer

Weird, google has no information on fdmwuncp.dll. You should check if any weird programs are being run in your startup. Use a tool like HijackThis to inspect these. (free, downloadable off the net)
