Mostly not. Disk transplants usually end badly, as the operating system wakes up with a bunch of unfamiliar devices, and (metaphorically) crashes and burns.

If may be possible to build such a disk, but it's a lot of work, and you still need a valid license key when the system boots.

If you buy a brand new hard drive, it won't have anything on it.
TigerDirect is a very good place to buy that sort of thing. I highly recommend Seagate hard drives. I bought one recently and installed Kubuntu on it.

yes, a second drive is a good idea if you have room for it, it will be the slave drive. if not get an external drive. yer os should stay where it is.
