No screw in your computer should be that hard to get out, but you're in the driver's seat. Invest in a set of small "screw extractors". They are left handed twist spiral polygonal screws. Ask at your local hardware store. Basically, you drill a small hole in the stubborn screw, insert a screw extractor in the hole, and back the screw out. It's a pain in the neck, but it doesn't ruin the threads.

It's much easier to drill it out and tap new threads , but then you will need a nonstandard screw to refasten it.

By the way, don't get metal shavings in the motherboard when you are drilling and such.

If the screw turns but does not come out, put it in a bind by prying something against it that raises the head of the screw, then turn. If it is the motherboard, take off the back panel and you will see the culprit where you can grab it with pliers.
