i have pentium dual core 2.8 Ghz 1024 DDR 1 RAM intel 865 motherboard Nvidia 6200 LE . i am not a gamer at all . but sometimes i like turning on a demo version .
when i run NFSU 2 it runs fine but Quake 4 keeps making the monitor go on and off . i ran Pearl Harbor today and it played well for 10 mins then began to make the monitor go on and off . but i stopped it and ran NFSU 2 again and it ran like a dream . why is the monitor going on and off ? it is a 9 month old CRT monitor 17 " . i play at low settings more or less . i know the 6200 is unable to play Quake 4 . but shoud it not be able to run it at very low frame rates since it meets minimum requirements . can my video card be faulty if NFSU 2 runs fine ?

I am looking to buy a PC for my son's but do not know much about them. I am on a tight budget and think I may have found one but would like some advise on if it is a good choice.

It's an Acer L100
graphics - Intergrated NVIDIA Geforce 6150

graphic memory - up to 384 shared

hard drive - 160Gb SATA

memory - 1Gb ( 2x512mb) SODIMM

processor - AMD Athlon 64

processor speed - 2400mhz

It has Windows Vista Premium, DVD Rewriter and a 19" monitor and is £380

This is about as high as my budget will allow.

My boys will probably use this for a lot of gaming and the above info means nothing to me.

Could anyone advise me if this is a good buy please ?

Thanks

My old motherboard is a intel 945p and my new motherboard is a 945gc.

I have this game Far Cry, its a really fun game, but today its been giving these display problems. It runs fone, smooth framerate, nice graphics. Just these ugly black lines, some of the environments textures have fused to make these horrible blocks. It looks really ugly, these black lines look like strings in the game. Also, these patches of weird fuzzy colour which is unexplained. I just installed it today, and i get these problems a few minutes into the game. Before i installed it before, i never had such problems. So there is no problem with my processor or graphics card. But i had to use system restore. I wonder if its the display options i use or something, please help me. Calling all computer whizzes.

I have two older desktop PCs both with one HD each. I want use them together in one desktop, one as a master and one as a slave. One HD is 10 GB and has a W2K OS and the other is 20 GB and has 98SE OS and files I need to keep. Each of these HD’s work as masters in separate computers, but I want to make the 10GB HD with W2K the master, and the 20GB HD with 98SE the slave in the PC that originally had the 20GB HD with 98SE as the master. When I do this I receive the Blue screen stating something about "If this is the first time you've received this message...and run CHKDSK \F". Also, the 10GB HD won’t work as a Single HD in the PC that originally used the 20GB HD as the master. Any thoughts as to why the 10GB won’t work as the master. Sorry for the confusion.

I just installed another 512mb memory on my PC (bringing total memory to 1GB) and i see a dramatic change in speed. I looked at my motherboard user book and it says i can install up to 1GB of memory, how accurate is that or can i install little more than that? if i were to take one of the 512mb's out and get a 1Gb memory would that mess up my system? Thanks

Q. 1. Okay first off will you guys tell my parents how badly we need a new computer? We have a virus scanner that says we have 14,000 viruses, our computer has a 20gb hard drive, and it only has 126mb of RAM, and We got in the middle of the year 2000. (PLEASE do not say that we don't need a new computer because WE DO!)

The following applies to the questions below:
I want 2GB of RAM, probably want Windows XP unless someone convinces me out of it, do NOT want an apple (I would want one but my parents would always be confused), and I want to be able to play games like halo, call of duty, and battlefield 2 on it.

Q. 2. What kind of processor and graphics card would I need to be able to play games like the ones listed?

Q. 3. What company will give me the most bang for my buck? I've been looking at a Dell XPS but am flexible.

Q. 4. Do you think I should get a Logitech Revolution mouse, or is it not worth the $99.99? If i were to get a good one that would be it.

Q. 5. Other suggestions?

Hey everyone,

While attempting to fragment my PC, the fragmentation program is telling me that some files will not fragment, mainly files in program files and documents and settings.

Seing as these as fairly large files *one of my documents is over 7 gigs, I was hoping someone would have the solution.

I am using Windows XP.

Thank you in advance.

Peace=)

Hello,
I am looking to upgrade my Current PC.
But not looking to purchase a new one, instead just upgrade the components in my pc!

My Current Specs are
E-Machines E3028
Intel Celeron D @ 3.20 Ghz
768MB RAM
DVD +/- RW Drive
6 USB
Memory Card Reader
Windows XP
ATI Graphics Card
Basically it seems my PC Can't run many demanding programs at once.
It wont RUN Ulead Video Studio 11 because whenever i seem to do edit a video on it it always runs out of memory.
Do you think i need a PC Upgrade or maybe do i just need to add more memory??

If i do upgrade. will i still have all my files and settings in place?
