The computer is an e machine. The new PS is 250 watts,is this too much? could i have not used the jumpers correctly? the original HD was only 4gigs. and had 129MB of space left on the drive.

Start from the begging. Dont worry about the hard drive. Does it turn on? Does it boot with the old hard drive and new power supply. Did you use the software with the new hard drive to copy your software from the old drive? Yes a 250 watt power supply will work just fine.

If the original harddisc is merely 4G, then you must have a very old machine.

Just keep the 4G HD and set the 160G HD as slavemode.

Perhaps, you need to config the bio to set the HD side to 160G, if you don't really want that 4G HD
