Hi. I use an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128 and am very happy with it. Has an Arctic Cooler. Best? No, I could get a better one. Happy? Very. My board is an ASUS A7N8X Rev 2 Deluxe.

That motherboard is an ASUS motherboard OEM'd by HP/Compaq. It has an 8x AGP port on it. Look online for an eVga nVidia 7600GS 4X/8X AGP Card, part number 256-A8-N542-T2. Should run about $100-$120. I've bought a ton of these, they work out great for most games.
