i have pentium dual core 2.8 Ghz 1024 DDR 1 RAM intel 865 motherboard Nvidia 6200 LE . i am not a gamer at all . but sometimes i like turning on a demo version .
when i run NFSU 2 it runs fine but Quake 4 keeps making the monitor go on and off . i ran Pearl Harbor today and it played well for 10 mins then began to make the monitor go on and off . but i stopped it and ran NFSU 2 again and it ran like a dream . why is the monitor going on and off ? it is a 9 month old CRT monitor 17 " . i play at low settings more or less . i know the 6200 is unable to play Quake 4 . but shoud it not be able to run it at very low frame rates since it meets minimum requirements . can my video card be faulty if NFSU 2 runs fine ?

It should run at Minimum, but Maximum settings for the monitor is better, that way it isn't struggling to display the graphic pixels... Set it to maximum and see if that stops the monitor from going on and off, if not than the graphics card could be not seated properly or is going out.. Good Luck

This may sound dumb to you - but I have done it -- check both ends of the connection. It's very easy to accidentally bump it out of place.

If connections are secure, and your monitor is under warranty, I sure would contact the manufacturer.

reinstall or update the drivers for your graphics card and make sure there arent any available updates through windows update.

also make sure that you check the requirements against your computers specs.

i suggest clean inside comp, sounds like an overheating issue. make sure the fan on your vid card is working.
