I am looking at buying a new Dell for Xmas and wondering how much proformance difference im going to notice between the two.

X2 5000+ is 500 to 600Mhz faster (depending on X2 4000+ core). Performance difference would hardly be noticeable in office applications, internet, downloading and MP3. Performance difference would be significant in 3D applications (games) and benchmarks of course.

You're looking at a difference in performance between the two. The 5000+ will run faster than the 4000+ by maybe 500Mhz. It's not a huge difference but for some people it means a lot.

Unless you need really high end processing speed I'd stick with the 4000+ as it would be cheaper.

Ok the 4000 has about a 1 ghz lower clock speed than the 5000 I think, the 5000 will give a performance increase of about 25% depending on the application
