When I boot up and I boot from a cd, like I'm trying to install A linux distro, SO, It starts installing and it just shuts off instantly, it also did this when I was installing WIndows VIsta, so when I start it up normally it will stay on, Is it the power supply

SPecs you might need
- Allied 500 watt power supply
- 3 80mm blue led fans
- 1 graphics card cooler fan with blue led's
- Intel Core 2 Duo
- HP dvd 1040i cd drive
- 320GB HArd Drive
- Asus P5B motherboard
- 1 GB ram
- Niko 20'' Widescreen LCD
- Logitech 5.1 speakers
- Logitech S510 wireless keyboard and mouse
- 1 OCZ Heatsink 92mm Blue led fan (Coming in Thursday, I currently have the stock intel cooling fan)

I'm leaning toward the power supply not having enough power or the Intel Core 2 Duo getting really hot, but it cant be because I have it on top of an air conditioner vent.

The case is at 81.3 degrees fahrenhiet on the inside.

We just got a new mac and its simple. All you have to do is press a button on the back. but i just noticed that if i press a key on the keyboard it comes on. Or if I turn it back on its right where it was. I dont mind it... but I just wanna make sure thats how it is suppose to be... hopefully Im not blowing this out of proportion.

Im going to buy a AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ for my computer, I have read reviews and It says it runs really really hot, so I need to know what kind of heatsink fan and power supply I should get, but I dont know what kind I should get if someone can please tell me I would appreciate it. By the way my I dont really have alot of money to spend on the heatsink fan and the power supply since im going to be shelling out over $256 for the cpu, so if yall can find me a well priced heatsink and power supply it would be wonderful. thanks

Im doing a McAfee virus scan and it's up to 600,000 files. Where/what are these files? I do have a lot of pictures and music on my comp but ..... geesh!

I'm doing the scan because my computer is running out of memory! It holds 80 GB in my hard drive. and there's not even 1 GB of free space left!

I dont even know what my main question here is. I just want some more space on my comp to hold more pictures and stuff.

ohhh, heres a question. what is a defragment? should i do that?

I recently purchased a gateway GT5464 and i bought a great lan and video card because I am an online gamer. The problem is that i still get severe cases of lag during the game and the fan in my CPU used to be silent before, and now its never silent. I want to know what will fix this problem, i've been suggested to get a bigger power supply and some more ram, but i want to know for sure before i purchase these if that will resolve my computer issues.

My PC gets louder the more I ask it to do. I'm running Windows XP Pro on a 2.93 Celeron chip on a ECS motherboard with 2 GB of DDR ram. When I run multiple taks it gets louder and louder. I was thinking of replacing the PSU. Are there quiet PSU's on the market? What I have now is the bottom of the barrel cheapie PSU. My CPU fan and heatsink is reletively clean, so I don't think that is the problem. I upgraded the CPU fan to a Coolermaster "silent" fan when I built this thing. My impression is less than satisfied with that. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm currently in the market for a new computer, i want a relatively good computer. The problem is that my dad wants to buy one for around 700 dollars, and i havent heard from anyone that 700 dollars can get you a decent Pc. The one that i want the AeonCraft Aeon-7035, which, with the add-ons i want, is about 1677, two gigs of ddr2 ram, with surround sound speakers, quad core processor, liquid cooling. It got a great review from Gaming pc (the price is higher because of their selected options) located at this url http://gaming-pc-review.toptenreviews.com/aeoncraft-review.html, and the buying screen is here: http://www.aeoncraft.com/ac/store/configurator.aspx?mid=182#header

My dad thinks that this is overpriced, but i dont agree, can someone help me out here?

btw, my dad works as a programmer for a living, but he only programs c++ for text based programs that doctors use, and from what i've seen, doesn't like computers being used for gaming, along with his friends.

Well, I recently upgraded my RAM to 2.5GB (over kill) just to realize I'd totally forgotten about my almost out of date CPU. I currently have a...AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3000+ And I'd like to upgrade to something Dual, I have an nforce3 motherboard..."NVIDIA nForce3 and NVIDIA nForce3 Professional were designed specifically for 64-bit AMD Athlon 64 FX, Athlon 64, and Opteron CPUs." If that helps. If you need more information on anything, email me. Thanks!

what is the difference between dual core and single core? i know that dual core is more efficient for multitasking but thats the only difference i have found.

for example, will a amd athlon 64 X2 2.2 ghz operate the same as a amd athlon 64 2.2 ghz processor when NOT multitasking?

also with intel, will a intel core 2 duo 2.2 ghz operate the same as a intel celeron 2.2ghz?

i want to know if dual core processors will operate twice as fast or the same.

also, i was reading some system requirements and i saw something that says "intel core 2 duo 2.2ghz or amd equivalent"

what is the amd equivalent of a intel core 2 duo 2.2ghz? is it the same?
