Well, I recently upgraded my RAM to 2.5GB (over kill) just to realize I'd totally forgotten about my almost out of date CPU. I currently have a...AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3000+ And I'd like to upgrade to something Dual, I have an nforce3 motherboard..."NVIDIA nForce3 and NVIDIA nForce3 Professional were designed specifically for 64-bit AMD Athlon 64 FX, Athlon 64, and Opteron CPUs." If that helps. If you need more information on anything, email me. Thanks!

Need the specific motherboard model. nForce3 is the chipset name. There are at least FIVE versions of nForce 3

* nForce3 Pro 150 -- initial version, Socket 754, only 600 HT
* nForce3 250 - Socket 754, basic value chipset, 800HT, does not include on-chip Gigabit LAN or on-chip Firewall.
* nForce3 250Gb - Socket 754, 800HT, includes gigabit LAN and on-chip Firewall.
* nForce3 Ultra - Socket 939, 1000HT, gigabit LAN, Firewall, Dual-Channel unbuffered, for Athlon 64/Athlon 64 FX.
* nForce3 Pro250 - Socket 940, 1000HT, gigabit LAN, Firewall, for Opteron.

Also, keep in mind that nForce 3 is NOT fully compatible with Windows Vista. See wikipedia entry on nForce 3.
