This auction is for a refurbished Dell Inspiron 5000e laptop. This can be used as a full functional Windows 2000 system or for repair parts. Minor problems with this laptop include a small crack in the front cover (see picture) and the screen sometimes changes color because the video cable might be loose. Ok, so, I have a laptop, or as I like to say, the craptop. I try to play games on it, but they run ALL SO BADLY. Can anyone recommend some good graphics cards for laptops. I've read all of the other questions, and I don't know if I have a PCI port or whatever it is. Also, does the type of maker of the computer work? My laptop is a Compaq, but runs Windows XP. Thanks!

I tried to adjust my hard drive security settings, using the administrator safe mode application. Now i can view my files but i can't access them. Is there any way to restore the settings to the origional settings? System restore does not work. Any ideas??

i have my computer and printer on a power stip and turn off the strip to save power when not in use everytime i turn on the strip the printer turns on automaticly even if i will not be using it

I want to put one of my old copies of xp or 98 on an old machine for my kids. The A drive is shot and the discs do not seem to want to boot from the CD. Can I go through an install on a working machine and aim everything at the external drive, then put that drive on an old machine? Thanks!

I don't like getting rid of paper documents. I have credit card bills going back about 20 years, and even notes from my college math classes going back to the early 1980's.

I plan on buying a scanner with a 50 page document feed that lets you scan directly to PDF files, in order to scan all of my bills and papers into PDF files and get rid of perhaps 10 boxes of paper and store everything on CDs.

Some of the papers were organized into manilla folders about 5 years ago, but I never finished. Most of the papers are unorganized in piles, some in boxes and some not. I think it is easy enough to stick the papers in the scanner and convert them to files, but I'll still need to separate the big PDF files into smaller files (I want one file for each bill/statement) and sort them out. It may be easier for already sorted papers, but if I have 50 different bills on 50 pages this could take time. Also wondering if I could have a problem if not all pages are 8.5'' x 11".

I cannot have more than one piece of paper. If I feed one piece a time, sometimes it will be okay but others it jams half way. Please send me detail step by step how to open and/or clean, etc.

My IT knowledge is less than a child's ability to talk at one year of age LOL I know the price of printers is low so those who have good knowledge please advise how to fix or do I dump it.

Also tell me the advantages and disadvantages of wireless printers. Thank you

It's a double sided stick of RAM, but It reads not all of my memory. it rips me off 128mb.

ok, so i have a laptop, the hp dv6000 which is notorious for the wireless card failure(i disregarded this when it happened), but when my mother turned it on with out plugging in the power cord in(only had the battery in) the computer emitted a long beep followed by 2 short beeps, and the monitor never turned on.

What do i do to fix this?

how come when i go to system requirements lab and see if i can run a game,at the bottom where it says the results it says that

so i click on the free video card update,but it takes me to AMD's website.but i already have the latest catalyst version 7.11 so why is the driver out-of-date?and where can i get the latest one?thanks.

When I open Internet Explorer, it says something about a DNS error in the status bar and I get an error message (Sorry, I can't remember how it was now).

Anyway, I test the connection on my wireless and wired connections. Turns out I have a problem with the following ports-

http: 80
https: 443
ftp: 21.

Also, I tried using Windows Live Messenger and it came up with an error code of 80072ee7.

I have Windows XP, BTW.

I just got a new HP laptop. I have already had to get the keyboard replaced because I key was off when I purchased it last Saturday. Best buy did it when I brought it back since they had no more to switch it out for. Since then, I have had two other problems. First, the battery only lasts 1 hour maybe 1 1/2 hour on the recommended power save options. Second, the computer froze yesterday. I could not get it to unfreeze. It was frozen for 15 minutes. The clock stopped so I know. The keyboard would not respond (if I pressed caps lock the light would not light and the wireless switch stayed lit too even if I turned it off). Also, the power switch would not respond. I had to eject the battery to get it to come back on. Is this normal? Should I return this computer to best buy for a refund?

I tried to upgrade my ram thinking all PC2-5300 versions were the same but my mobo only recognized it's original PC2-5300u ram. The RAM's specs were:

PC2-5300u-555-12-E1

I will be getting a new laptop and like most am torn between Dell and Hp. I reallly prefer the look of the HP but most of the HP's that are comparable in price to a Dell with similar specs have an AMD Athlon 64X2. This is the only way the HP's can compete in price with the Dell. I was particularly looking at a Dell Vostro 1400 or 1500 vs an HPdv6605Ca. The Hp is on sale right now at future shop for 749 and the comparable Dell is 919. Not sure if I should go with the HP or Dell. I hate the look of the Vostros, they are so boring but it's what's inside that counts right? This is why I'm so torn. Also the Dell has basic microsoft office included whereas the HP has only the trial version.
I really need help fast cause I'm planning to purchase on Monday! I want the notebook for X-mas!

I have a Dell Inspiron 2200 I got it about 2 1/2 years ago and all of a sudden the battery will not charge and the power charger has to be in a funky position to turn the computer on. I want to know how I can fix these problems if they are worth fixing. If they aren't is there a good way to get money for my old one.
