I tried to upgrade my ram thinking all PC2-5300 versions were the same but my mobo only recognized it's original PC2-5300u ram. The RAM's specs were:

PC2-5300u-555-12-E1

I was also wondering if the last 2 characters had any effect so I know what to buy, THX!

The motherboard is an "intel desktop" with a g33 chipset. I don't know what that means but there is no model number on it. The computer itself is a Gateway (ugh, I know) GM5478. I'm beginning to think that I might have bought some bad RAM.

That's weird, normally Motherboards can take any kind of RAM of the same type.
I guess the U at the end of 5300 would stand for unbuffered?

Don't know about the two last characters. Could you possibly give more details about your mobo?

Education is good, because it teaches you how to learn, how to discipline your mind. Knowledge for a Christian is knowing the word, knowing your God, His nature, His will, His outlook on things. Wisdom is looking at things from God's perspective and putting them into action. Knowledge is great, but too much of it can puff you up if you don't counteract it with fruit of the Spirit. Ever know a person who's very knowledgeable, but has no temperance and no love? Their knowledge is almost useless in the long run. But wisdom? You find that and your soul shall live, because when you find wisdom, you find the way God Himself looks at a situation. Proverbs 3: By wisdom the Lord laid the earth’s foundations, by understanding he set the heavens in place; by his knowledge the watery depths were divided, and the clouds let drop the dew.

Hi. Most of the info on the 'u' version were in German. I thought it meant 'un-buffered' but can not prove this.
