Yes you can. It works the same as doing it on the comp. I use my Wi-Fi on my laptop too.

yes thats the main type of cable connection to use with a wireless router from any type and company, there are of course some other expensive type like the fiber optic, but they work the same

You'd need to buy a router. Which you can replace the broadband modem with and then use the wireless on yoru laptop.

it really depends on the type and maker of your lap top...
usualy you can. your internal network card also makes a difference it needs to be compatible with WiFi in order to work properly (or at all)

it also depends on how strong the WiFi is....
