When I open Internet Explorer, it says something about a DNS error in the status bar and I get an error message (Sorry, I can't remember how it was now).

Anyway, I test the connection on my wireless and wired connections. Turns out I have a problem with the following ports-

http: 80
https: 443
ftp: 21.

Also, I tried using Windows Live Messenger and it came up with an error code of 80072ee7.

I have Windows XP, BTW.

I don't have a modem. I have an 8-pin cable in the back of my laptop for my uni Internet and a wireless network for when I'm at home.

Did you try to reset your connection? If not unplug your modem for 10 secondes, plug it back, wait 45 secondes, try again to connect
