I don't think so. Generally the things that suffer from "wear" are mechanical parts, and that would be the on/off switch on a printer. You are not turning it on/off at the printer though; you're turning it on/off with the power strip, so I think you are pretty safe in conserving power by turning it off if you are not going to use it for a while.

It might, it depends what kind of printer you have and what year it was made. Older printers, it might. If it's a brand new HP, then I think you're okay. To be on the safe side...I would turn off the all of the things coming out of the strip, and then turn off the strip. Just in case something does go wrong.

If you don't use the printer much, maybe it is easier to switch the printer off so it doesn't go on when you turn on the power strip to use the computer. Then you would just need to switch the printer on when you want to print. That's what I do.

It will become obsolete before it dies from turning on and off the power strip. Do not worry about it. You are doing your part to save electricity. I do suggest a surge protector rather than just a power strip.

Believe it or not yes it is not good to turn it off and on a lot, electronic equipment does not like to be turned on or off, look at it like this, you would not want to be waking up by one of those machines that jump start your heart every time you woke up, that is what it is like for electronic equipment, turn it on when you need it and shut it off when your done for the day, hope it helped you understand it a little better good luck.

not sure about the life of the printer, but it will eat up your ink. the printer "charges" everytime you turn it on, and it uses some ink

I think that it should actually lengthen its life cos as far as I am aware the heat of stuff being left on all the time isn't so good for those tiny wires
