I have a Dell Inspiron 2200 I got it about 2 1/2 years ago and all of a sudden the battery will not charge and the power charger has to be in a funky position to turn the computer on. I want to know how I can fix these problems if they are worth fixing. If they aren't is there a good way to get money for my old one.

You have probably broken the recepticlal for the power cord, the one that is on the PC. I think Dell mounts them on the motherboard, it will be expensive to fix, and no, you won't get much for it in it's current state.

Assuming the span of use which was 2 1/2 years it is highly likely that some hardware would wear out. In your case the problem is either the battery or the charger. I could say that recarghing the battery over and over again will overheat the charger and since you've done this repeatedly for 2 1/2 years it's worn out.

You mentioned that you have to position your charger in a funky way to turn on the computer on and that means you have to get rid of the charger. Since you had to position the charger in funky positions then it is likely that the problem is there but that doesn't mean there is nothing wrong with the battery.

You also mentioned the battery woudn't charge probably due to the faulty charger. But don't hesitate to perform diagnostics. It could be both or either in a sense they are both dependant on the other.

I suggest that you get a new charger or battery and don't worry you could turn your old battery into cash. 21/2 years seems quite long so getting a new battery and charger will prolong the life of your laptop.

If you have to move the wire then it is probally the copper wire inside has broken and you can get that repared by an electritian or someone who is fair with solder but if its the main power converter then you will need to buy a new adapter and these can be expensive ranging from £60 - £150 varying on hown common your PC is and what power consumption it uses. But if its a rare power gobbler or the actual receptical that you plug the wire in is broken you may aswell buy a new computer.

I have a compact persario m2150 and it does the same thing...only thing is it happened to me twice... sooner or later ur adapter will give out and your gonna have to either A) go to future shop and buy a universal adapter 170.00$ or B) order one from online, i'm not sure how much it costs but mine was 90.00$. and for your battery you have to order a new one...
