As my question says, when I insert CDs into my laptop they do not play automatically neither does my PC ask me what I want to do (open in iTunes, WM, open to view files etc)

Having read up on this on Yahoo Answers I found you go to your "CD Drive" in My Computer........ only problem is, I DON'T HAVE A CD DRIVE..... only a hard drive in My Computer folder.

What to do???

So on my computer when I hit the shift key and the number "4," up pops a dollar symbol like this: $. If I were to purchase a computer in the UK, would it have a "pound" symbol on the keyboard above the 4?

And what about the euro? (Pardon my ignorance, but I don't even know if it has a symbol.)

Moreover, is there any way I can make the pound symbol with my computer?

..... do you believe that the USB memory stick will become obsolete? I use a 2 GB card for backup and it remain in the slot at all times. A USB memory stick would be impractical since it sticks out. Many of the cards are also compatible with other devices where memory sticks are not. Cameras, phones, picture frames, etc.

I like this laptop and I want to buy it. I like it cause its only 2lbs. and it has a built in web cam and most importantly it only cost $399.00

I'm thinking about getting a macbook pro but I'm worried that I may eventually need a program that doesn't run on it during college. I know about bootcamp and parallel but I don't want to put windows on my computer. I also know there's microsoft office for the mac. Would, microsoft office be enough to get by in college? I haven't really used a mac so I don't know about its compatibility with 3rd party software. Thanks

So, I know that MP3 players (usually) have a DSP chip, which (decompresses the music files) and speeds us the processing and hence playing the music in real-time. If we had done this on software, this would be slow and so music would not be played in real time.
My question is , could somebody pl quantize this and give some numbers to put these things in perspective..like if we do it on software, what would be the rate of music playing etc..

or give another application and speed obtained when it's done on hardware and when done on software..

Thanks

I bought a laptop 2 years ago, and also the obscenely expensive extended warranty.

Last week while moving, it was dropped, and now doesn't even boot up.

Will they fix this, or do I get a new model? Anybody have experience with this sort of thing here?

When it didn't boot up, I hope what the sales man said was true. Is it?
