I'm thinking about getting a macbook pro but I'm worried that I may eventually need a program that doesn't run on it during college. I know about bootcamp and parallel but I don't want to put windows on my computer. I also know there's microsoft office for the mac. Would, microsoft office be enough to get by in college? I haven't really used a mac so I don't know about its compatibility with 3rd party software. Thanks

I would go with Windows Vista for college because sadly enough most colleges are brain washed into thinking that M$ is the best thing since sliced bread.....LOL....yeah right. You could run everything you need to run with a mac but it takes more work. I'm a Linux man myself so I would recommend Ubuntu 7.1, you can install M$ Orifice on it with wine, it's very easy. Here's the version I use:

besides listening to ignorant people, a macbook pro is a good choice for college. if you dont want to put windows on it you can get office 2008 which is coming out soon. i dont know what courses you are taking so i dont know if thats all you will need for collegde but it is a good start. i have a 17" macbook pro.
