Go to start, Go to accessories, Go to system tools, Go to system restore and follow all prompts to restore your system, You will lose any saved items but, Your system will restore all factory settings including windows xp.
You computer will be clean and fast, Restart and delete whatever you don`t want on the start up screen
Click start again and go to the control panel and pick add/remove programs and remove any crap you don`t want like quicken/ market browser etc.
then run a def rag and disk clean this will take about a half hour and you will have basically a new computer.
Everything you need will be there and if in a couple days you don`t have everything come back run restore again.

There should have been a set of CDs for this machine that will take it back to factory fresh. Or there could be a partition on the hard drive that contains this data. It is usually called "D". In either case, all you need to do is run this software. It will reformat the hard drive and then install any and all software and drivers. This will also install the operating system, in your case, XP.

If you don't have the disks and the partition is not there you can get what you need from the manufactures web site. This information is usually under the heading "Support". If the system has a few years on it you may be asked to pay a small amount for these CDs. that they will be sending to you.

You can remove the previous owners info manually, but that can be a bit difficult if you are not comfortable roaming around in some of the background folders and the Registry. But it can be done.

Hi. If you have the installation CD then run it, format the drive when it asks, then put in your own software. Easy!
