I'm tired and I'm at a loss. I thought this was a surmountable problem. Apparently I was wrong. Anyhoo...I've done all of the simple things. Then, I everything else I tried to find to fix it...I either didn't have, couldn't figure out or it didn't work. I know this sounds idiotic...but, as I said, I'm tired. If you think you've got the answer as to why I'm getting this message and why the Mac isn't reading either of two different blank discs that I just need to add some frickin' pictures to, let me know.

i want to make my desktop computer somewhat portable by giving it a hookup to send video/audio to a TV via red, yellow, white plugs because the monitor weighs more than the rest of the hardware combined, allowing me to move the computer to another house with minimal effort.

can i convert the VGA output on my computer to the red, yellow, white plugs that fit most TV's?

I have been looking around on tigerdirect.com for a new computer. I am pretty much building it from scratch. But at any rate i was looking at graphics cards. I found a cheap directX 10 card and was excited. But i have been reading around and people say you have to have Vista to use it. BUT on tigerdirect at the bottom of the page it says you can use the card with vista, XP, or 2000. So what is the deal? Will it work just not be as good as if i had Vista? Well here is the link to the card

Any info on this would be awsome!

I am using a laser printer to print out envelopes for our wedding invitations. I would like to send the envelopes through the printer twice (to have the return address on the back top flap) but I heard that it's not good to put envelopes through laser printers twice. I'm guessing something with the glue?

Anyone have any experience with this and know if it will be fine if I do it? I really don't think it will do anything, but I don't want to ruin the envelopes.

Thanks!

I just built myself a high-end system. It's AMD X2 5600+ with 4GB RAM, Nvidia 8800 GTX video card, and 500 GB HDD.

I had been using a rather cheap (~$25) heatsink until now. I decided to overclock and so I got $75 Zalman CNPS9500 AM2 heat-sink and some artic silver 5.

I put the system together yesterday around 5 and let the burn-in test run for about 3 hours. I was able to overclock the CPU by 7-8%.

My question: how long should I wait before trying to overclock again? I read some place that termal paste takes a while to settle down between the CPU and the heatsink, so that had me wondering.

Just wondering of anyone has used this brand and whether you like it or not. I seriously need a laptop and I'm considering this brand but want some feedback first. Dell or Toshiba are my other possibilities. Thanks!

How do I start windows? I bought it off internet, but I forgot to ask the seller.

Some help would be nice. It's just like another partition with Windows XP installed in it, I'm sure it can berun because it has a few "apple keyboard/mouse/etc support" files and stuff, and he had been using it himself.

A technician is adding an internal PnP modem to a system, but a check of system resources shows that all available IRQs are reserved or being used by other devices. What could the technician do to get the device to work?

* manually assign the IRQ of another device that is not expected to be used at the same time as the modem
* use trial and error to find an IRQ that will work with the modem
* configure the modem to work without an IRQ
* change CMOS settings to allow the BIOS to free up an unused IRQ
* configure the modem to use a DMA address instead of an IRQ

I have a Dell that had a hard drive failure -- I'd like to take the hard drive from that Dell and put it in my other Dell (as a slave drive) just to see if I can get to any of the files. (I tried disconnecting the CD-drive from Dell #2 and adding the failed drive from Dell #1 with those connections, but that didn't work -- I changed the jumpers so they looked like Slave in the diagram, but maybe that wasn't right?) I just want to try to grab a few files from the failed drive. Help!? Thanks.
