If you are referring to IDE/PATA master mode I don't think there is a master mode for USB. When you attach an IDE drive to a USB interface (for example when you place a hard drive in your own USB enclosure) it has to be set in master mode. Serial ATA drive also do not have a master/slave mode. In any case even with ATA there is no performance issue running a drive in master or slave mode.

If you mean you want to boot from your USB drive it depends on your motherboard, some do most don't. If you go into the BIOS you may have an option to boot from USB.

USB disks don't have master and slave modes. That's only for IDE disks on the same ribbon cable.

If by "Master Mode" you mean Bus mastering, that is not possible. DMA mode or Bus mastering is something that only pertains to internal IDE drives like internal hard drives and CD-ROM drives...
If you mean master like master/slave, that's just irrelevant because USB doesn't have masters and slaves.

I don't think you can, if there is a way I would like to know it myself.
