I bought a preconfigured pc from packard bell with windows vista and a HDD of 500GB. Vista wasn't working properly. Because my employer gave me Vista Home Premium for free, I decided to reinstall Vista. My computer works much better now, but when I go to 'My Computer' he only recognises 127GB of HDD. When I go to BIOS, it locates a 500GB HDD.

Can someone help me so I'm able to access the entire HDD in windows?

I've cycled through all effects and at no time will all 6 speakers play. I have 6 channel direct selected on the back of the logitech control center. When I open the sound card, which is a Haupauge Win TV HVR-1600 NTSC/ATSC Combo and Realtek High Definition Audio and is set to 5.1 sound, the test function works properly. All six speakers produce the test sound fine, but when I play music or movies only some of them work depending on my effect setting. When I switch the 1-3 channel on the back of the logitech control center they seem to all work fine, however the sound card test doesn't work with all of the speakers, only the front, left right chanells. Is this normal? I don't have the owners manual, so I hope someone out there knows what the deal is. Thanks

bought a creative sound blaster and installed it followed all instructions converted an anologue file ( off vinyl ) into mp3 but when i play it back it sounds very quiet even tho the volume is on full. can anyone give me step by step instructions please.

Right now i have a PC2100 128 MB 266MHz ram card. I'd like to get a PC2700 1 GB which is the highest my pc can handle, my question is do i need to buy a card that is 1GB 266MHz or does it not matter what the MHz is? Most I've seen on ebay are PC2700 1 GB 333MHz - 400MHz

For computer techs: do you actually feel a 2.2Ghz dual core should be sold as a 3.7Ghz computer? Or a 2.4 D.C. be sold as a 4.45Ghz?

(2.2G DC with run 2 threats of info at 2.2 each - but there are actually graphics programs and games that need a patch or the DC will actually run them too slow)

Personally thinking this is flat out false advertisement and would like other's thoughts. Thanks

I recently moved and hooked up my keyboard and mouse. It is a Mi innovations cordless set. The mouse works and I can't get the keyboard to work. I ran the disc again and still no keyboard, i also changed the batteries and pressed the reset button on the bottom. Still nothing. Please help me! Goin crzy!

The PC was on and in Vista, I had the side of the case off (it's a Dell Dimension 9200) and noticed that I'd forgotten to plug the power cable into my floppy drive. I went to push them together to connect it and the system died immediately. I pressed the power button a number of times but no response was forthcoming. More by luck than judgement I pressed one of the jumpers on the mobo (CMOS one I think though it may have been the re-set password one) and it kicked the system back into life immediately. Everything worked perfectly and the only thing that had changed was that the date/time had re-set to when the system was first built - something easily rectified.

What should have happened? Was I very lucky? Does the law of averages suggest that something should have stopped working or that the power pack should have blown up or the hard drives corrupted or something like that?!

I am thinking of purchasing a new laptop. Currently I have a Dell Inspiron 4150 and feel like throwing it out the window because it always seems to be on the blink and also I feel it is too heavy. I am looking for a cd burner and dvd player included plus a way for me to connect my sony digital camera to the computer so I can upload pictures. A friend of mine suggested getting a Macbook since she has one herself. However, I was thinking of a Sony Vaio since the computers seem very well made, light in weight and have wireless capabilities. Can anyone suggest a great laptop for me? All I would really use it for is picture uploading, internet usage, documents etc.

my memory stick for my hp pavillion seems to have burnt up. got the blue screen of death. i had an old compaq persario and pulled the sticks out of it. they are the same size but the notches in the center of the stick do not line up. will these work or will i need to go to the store and match up the notches exactly?

While upgrading the bios of my perfectly working Hp Pavilion DV6125ae with all features/antivirus/usb disabled from version F.06 to F.16 , the system completed till 50% and then the Blue screen of Death (BSOD) poped up saying that windows had to shut down in order to avoid damage. Since then my laptop is nothing more than a paper weight or a display model. I'm desperate to get it done as i have very important data on it, tried backing up but the HDD is a newer type SATA disk n i do not have an external casing for the type.

Giving it to Hp for warranty will take a very long time. help me out with any options without opening up the laptop.

I just got a new PC with Vista and hooked up my WUSB54G. I downloaded the Vista drivers from Linksys. Now when I go to access the internet, it is VERY, VERY slow to load anything. Also, all the applications on the system start up and run slow when I have the WUSB54G drivers installed. When I disconnect the WUSB54G or disable it, the systems moves at normal speed. I'm guessing some interrupt is getting overloaded, hence the system slowdown, but I'm not sure where to look or what to fix. Thanks.

Anyway, the price is not pretty, you are talking about $2,400 here, and it is not a light notebook, either; can be heavy.

But as a desktop replacement, a notebook that has a 17" screen and only weighs 8.5 pounds is pretty good in my opnion. What do you think?

Yeah, I like to travel, but do you think an 8.5 pound notebook is too heavy?
