i would opt for 2gb of ram if possible. Vista is very ram hungry.

With a dual core processor and 1GB of RAM on her Inspiron 1501 laptop my daughter's SIMS 2 game runs very well. Far better than on a P4 2.8 with the same RAM. If you want more RAM, Vista allows you to use a USB flash drive as extra memory.

I would pay more for more memory. Try 2 GB ram to run smoothly in the future. I just recently purchased a Dell, I'm very satisfied with my purchase.
