Help me deside.?
I am thinking about buying a Dell XPS M 1710. The NoteBook can be seen at this link http://www.dell.com/content/products/pro...

Anyway, the price is not pretty, you are talking about $2,400 here, and it is not a light notebook, either; can be heavy.

But as a desktop replacement, a notebook that has a 17" screen and only weighs 8.5 pounds is pretty good in my opnion. What do you think?

Yeah, I like to travel, but do you think an 8.5 pound notebook is too heavy?

Spec:
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7200 (2.00GHz, 4MB L2 Cache, 667 MHz FSB

Tell me what you think about the CPU.

2GB DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHZ, 2 DIMM

Should I select the 80GB 7200rpm SATA Hard Drive, or the 120GB SATA Hard Drive ?

Tell me what do you think.

Thank you.

dell XPS are the good laptops. but if u are going to travel and i would recommend to go for something that is small in screen size and also light. u will get tired of the heavy weight and also 17" screen size.

No... no no no.... That would be a terrible mistake. My CEO just bought one of these with Vista and it's a terrible notebook. If you're going to spend that much, go with a MacBook Pro. Why? Because you're going to get all of those same specs, but in a notebook that's one inch thick, weighs only five pounds, features a brighter display and has about twice the battery life of a Dell notebook. There's also great features that you won't see in any PC notebook, like the backlit keyboard with Ambient Light Sensor or the MagSafe power adapter. Apple really does make the best notebooks money can buy. I'm not even going to get into Mac OS X, there are many advantages to using Mac OS X. Don't forget, Macs can also dual-boot with Windows or run Windows within Mac OS X itself. Windows runs great on a MacBook Pro. It's entirely native.

If you're going to spend that kind of money, get a Mac. You'll get a lot more for that money.

I have a MacBook Pro myself. I love the thing, I take it everywhere. You couldn't give me a Dell notebook. Well, you could, but I'd probably make a "smash my Dell" video and put in on YouTube or something.

If you have any questions about it, send me a message.

It depends what you need it for to be honest but it seems pretty good in my opinion.

You don't always need that much ram to start off with, you can always get a cheaper notebook and then install more ram when you need it.

It does seem heavy, but it depends how often you would take it out with you, i know i certainly wouldn't want to lug a heavy notebook that weighs more than my cat out with me lol.

Again, on hardrives, it depends just what you want to do with it.

Good luck!
