bought a creative sound blaster and installed it followed all instructions converted an anologue file ( off vinyl ) into mp3 but when i play it back it sounds very quiet even tho the volume is on full. can anyone give me step by step instructions please.

I agree with Bubbie. The chances of it being your sound card that's causing the 'problem' are negligible.

Take another look at the program that you're using to record with. There's probably some way in which you can increase the recording level.

Failing that, download a program called MP3Gain. (Link below, and it's free.) This will enable you to increase the volume, though it may also increase the relative hiss that you're trying to avoid.

There's also a commercial program called MP3Doctor that will do the job. The link below will give you a 20-use trial.

I would think the low sound is due to the program you converted the analog (vinvl) file with and not the sound card.
