It's been 2 days since I started using my Aspire laptop. with 1G RAM, Windows XP Media Center Edition. The only programs I installed were Norton Antivirus and Windows Party.

Now, it takes at least 6 minutes before I see all the desktop icons.

When I do the ctrl-alt-delete, the CPU shows that there is no activity. When I take a look at the "processes", i see a long list of programs that show SYSTEM or my name as the user.

What do I do to get the laptop back to its fast startup????

I have a HP Pavillion dv2000 with 1gb ram and Turion64 x2. Sometimes it runs ok and other times it gets super laggy no matter what settings or effects i have in-game. I know its not the best laptop but is there any way that i can improve WOW.

I have repetedly tried many meathods to fix but when I plug my power supply in with my GeForce 8800 GTS it make a loud high pitched continuous beep. When I take out my graphics card it does not make this sound

I am thinking about an alienware laptop, but I am not sure that it would be good for school. Could you reccomend a very portable laptop that's good for school, but still has some nice gaming capabilities. I would prefer on that has a built-in wireless internet access port (if possible).

just got an old Thinkpad R31, but without an OS. i need to access the configuration screen to tell the system to load from a cd to install the new OS. Can anyone tell me how to access the cmos or boot device menu?

I've had laptops for a year or two and have always used mice, some wireless and some wired. This is my problem. I always have to buy a new one (every month or two) because the one I am using just stops working. I'm careful with the mouse and the receiver if it's wireless but the damn things quit! What are your experiences with laptop mice??

It was working fine yesterday...Anways... I tried to plug the case usb ports (front) to motherboard and I must have had the acouple of wires mixed up because when i booted it up, it turned on for 10 seconds, turned off, and just never came back on. I unplugged the wires to make sure my pc was ok but it just didn't want to turn on. Now i'm stuck here hoping I can just replace my powersupply (only thing I have confirmed is Videocard and HDD still work). If anyone has any input i'd be glad to hear it... Thanks.

It goes to sleep to conserve power and then will not power back on. I have to remove the battery and let the stored power drain before it will restart. Does anyone have a similar problem or know how to fix it?

I hook up external speakers to my laptop and project DVD (movies) onto a large screen. With the movies there isn't much volume and everything is turned up as far as possible. Is there some kind of booster I can hook up to send more volume to my external speakers?
