what key do i press to access the cmos of a thinkpad r31?

just got an old Thinkpad R31, but without an OS. i need to access the configuration screen to tell the system to load from a cd to install the new OS. Can anyone tell me how to access the cmos or boot device menu?

F1 key during post booting should do it. Just hit it before the post finishes. (I actually think it tells you what key and when to press it, just watch at startup.)
