Buy a used computer, you won't need vista for a long time and XP is stable now. Most used computers will still last you for years to come anyway and a big plus is that you won't spend as much money. Try ebay, craigslist or build your own from scratch will save you some money and get you what you want.

buy a computer with xp. i haven't seen any that didn't offer to set up xp etc. and send you home or you can easily get it mail oder per web. whatever. the xp is "free" Now i would call tiger direct and cut a deal with the largest dealer in the world. geet a new hp sytem but don't get vista get xp. vista is new and new software invariably does ssometjig crazy during the first year or so.

I.M.H.O. Don't bye a Gateway. You can get Windows XP with any computer.
