Um..... I don't think there's a definite way to figure if the capacity of your laptop battery has decreased or not unless you time it under the same conditions. Too many factors can affect battery life like how bright your screen is and what your computer's doing. Even temperature can affect it.

Anyway, I don't know if you can check but after many recharges batteries tend to store less energy. Good thing for you, laptop batteries were designed to last a long time. So, if you think your laptop battery has decreased in capacity then simply recalibrate your battery. You do this by charing it to 100%. Then you leave the computer on until the battery runs out. When I mean run out I don't that Microsoft Windows thinks your battery is low so it shuts it down for you "safely". I mean literally wait until your computer just sudden shuts dies with a kind of click noise (That's your hard drive locking into resting position if you wanted to know). You can make sure it's completely drained by keep on turning it back on after it turns off. When you feel satisfied, go ahead and charge it back to 100%. However, leave the computer OFF and keep it charging for about 10 hours. Even if the charging light goes off, you should leave it charging and off..

--edit:

If you bought it 4 months ago and you have this probably, that means that you didn't charge it and leave it off charging for 10 hours before use. Just follow the steps I outlined above to fix the problem.

the only way is to compare the life of it from the time u bought it till recently. SO if its able to last 3 hrs on a full batt when u first bought it, if it gets any lesser than 3 hrs then u know its losing its capacity.

how historical is the pc? it's usual for the battery to lose its potential to keep a cost over the years, it's known as reminiscence outcome and ultimately all batteries want changed, when you preserve the pc plugged into the mains as a way to make the battery final much less time, it's great to make use of the battery and permit it move wholly flat at least one time a month to support avert reminiscence outcome

If it doesnt last as long as it used to on a full charge, then it is getting old and losing its maximum run time. It happens with every battery. Typical battery lifespan is only a couple years before they start losing charge quickly.
