I've installed one giga bite of new memory but the problem is when the computer boots up everything loads, then when you go to open a program the computer automatically reboots. Is this a problem with the new memory?. The computer recognises the new memory and I have tried it in the other free bays but to no avail. I've taken the old memory out as this is a different size but eventually put it back in and removed the one gig. Any advice would be great, Thanks P.S. win xp, 120gb hard drive, 2500gb athlon processor.

I bent the USB bit of my memory stick the other day and now it doesn't work. Does anybody who knows about the technical side of computers know if this sort of thing can be fixed? I can't see anything that appears damaged on it when I take it out of its shell.

Thanks for any help you can give

Jo

Hello
I have 2 say this is about the 7th time i've had a problem with my laptop.I've only had it for a year and i get serious errors every 2 months and i've been through 2 different hard drives already. im about done with laptop's if i have 2 get another hard drive. I have alot of info on it this time. Including stuff for my job. Anyways to the point. When i start it up it goes to screen where it says enter thru safe mode, regularly or last time settings were correct. I tried all three and after i do it shows a blue screen that says alot of words and it restarts by itself in like 2 seconds. Then when i try safe mode it just goes on and on with a list about various files in system 32 and then it just restarts the computer. I wanna do a system recovery but it is not giving me the option to save at least some folders. it says it wants to just erase everything but i cant afford 2 do that :-/
plzzze help
any help will be greatly appreciated

We're trying to install a new HD into my brother's PC, but there is a problem. The wires that connected his old HD to the computer itself look like this:

http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/6497/dsc02469xe8.jpg

... but the HD output is this:

http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/1272/dsc02478qp6.jpg

In case you can't see it, it basically is a rectangle.

The old one had an output like this:

http://img402.imageshack.us/img402/8180/dsc02476el7.jpg

And in case you can't see that, it's basically a load of pins in 2 rows.

How can I fit the new one?

I have a 2 and a half year old Apple emac and lately it has begun to randomly freeze, the mouse cursor will move but nothing will work. I had a look on the Apple website and it seemed that others had experienced the same problem with their emacs and the problem was with leaky capacitors on the logic board, there was a list of serial numbers that were recalled but mine didn't feature. I had a look in the back of mine and also found there to be brown gunk on one of my capacitors as specified on the website. I took the mac to my local Apple store who told me the logic board needs replacing at a cost of over £300. As my emac is not one of the serial numbers recalled we are not covered for the repairs.
The emac cost me £650 when I bought it and a new mac now would cost me about the same. Surely this is the fault of Apple and therefore replacing the logic board should lie with them? You would hope your emac would last longer than 2 and a half years! Has anyone else had a similar experience?

So, the situation is like this. I had this very, very dysfunctional mouse, and I had kept on forgetting (or being too lazy) to buy a new one for a long, loooong time. After the said long, loooong sufferance, today I have finally convinced myself that I DO NEED ANOTHER MOUSE (again, it's a device with buttons I'm talking about, not a living creature), and I got myself a new one. The thing is, what horrible revenge should I take for the misery caused by that old wicked mouse? Give me some distructive ideas, please.
("it wasn't the mouse's fault!" won't do. *It was* precisely the mouse's fault, and it deserves to be punished!!)

I have a Compaq Presario 5000, I found a hard drive, and pluged it in. this hard drive was more recent and the whole system went very slow. I decided to use the Quick Restore With the new hard drive and the origianal hard drive connected. I took the new one from a broken computer w/ a malfuntioning power supply.

When I used the Quick restore, the computer still went unnaturaly slow. So, When i said to put in the second disk, I just shut the whole thing down, and undid the new hard drive.

After this, everything has gone wring, I think I've tried every combonation of plugong in one hard drive, ect. I also used the floppy Emergengy disk and states that is an error. I belive that I erased the sytem, or what ever it is, on the origonal Hard Drive

I retryed the CD restore, nothing works

PLEESE HELP!

I bought a HP Pavilion zd800 back in 2005. I also bought a 10hr battery extention thing, but the back of the computer "in-let" is not compatable with the extender. So i need fitting to go over the end of it to adapt it to my lapto, or my batttery extension will go to waste. When i bought the laptop, the salesman said it was the new kind of inlet because HP had changed and most all others will be this way as well, but i have yet to see any adapters.

My g/f has so many songs on here 120 GB harddrive so I want to know if I buy a external 1 TB hard drive (1000 GB) and hook it up by USB and then delete all the songs on the PC's harddrive will it be faster. I know 1 TB is a lot but it will set my up for life and it is $500. That comes down to 50 cents per GB which is a way better deal. Thanks.

I plan on using Windows XP or possibly upgrade to Vista Premium. What brand of hardware components will work best with this set up, but will also be cost effective?
