I bent the USB bit of my memory stick the other day and now it doesn't work. Does anybody who knows about the technical side of computers know if this sort of thing can be fixed? I can't see anything that appears damaged on it when I take it out of its shell.

Thanks for any help you can give

Jo

If you broke the USB connection, you would have to get another USB interface and solder it onto the board.

It might be possible to straighten it with long nosed pliers.
But bear in mind you can get a 1GB stick for 6 pounds on amazon. Is it worth the trouble?

If its a matter of retreiving all the data - then yes, solder on a short lead cut off another cable. Make sure all the 4 pins are correct of course.

If it's just the USB bit that you broke, that should be a relatively easy fix. Still a little pricey though. I would just buy another USB unless your old one has valuable information on it that you must get to.

Anything can be fixed, whether or not it would be cost-effective is the question.
