Okay first of all, if you have no idea what the heck I'm talking about don't reply...

I have a good graphics card in my computer. A Variant of the 6800.

Here is the specs:
256MB memory
256-bit memory
325mHz Core Clock
700mHz Memory Clock
12pp, 5vp

Okay now I know my way through a computer, but I wanted to get some things about the video card cleared up. Anyone who is willing to describe these specs and what each actually does for my gameplay are more then welcome.

I know the memory stores the video textures.
I don't know what the bit of the memory benifits.
The core i'm not sure completely.
The memory clock I believe affects performance greatly but i'm not sure how.

And the pp and vp, i dont know what they offer.

I am finally buying my vista premium notebook, but don't know which processor t go with. The computer with the AMD Turion 64 X2 is a bit cheaper than the one with the intel core 2 duo. But i want to know if the AMD is good for games, media center, and my Autodesk applications. I keep hearing the Intel processor is the best, but if its faster than te AMD and will allow me to do games and etc. I wouldnt mind dishing out a little extra for it.

ok so I got an MSI P4 motherboard. I got the DDR ram that it suggests in the manual, I bought a 300 watt powersupply because the manual suggests a 300 or up.

The computer has a pentium 4 intel processor.

I am using an IDE drive right now that is from 1996-97 it is like 20 gbs.

Anyway, when I turn the power on to my computer it will start but only go to one screen that shows it detects the hard drive and the disk drives. Then it says "WARNING! CMOS has been reset, please verify settings in Setup." and I press f1 and on the keyboard and the screen goes completely blank, it has only gone to the setup page once, but then froze.

When it resets, there is usually a wierd clicking sound coming from the motherboard from near where the power switch plugs into the motherboard, and where the CMOS reset jumper is.

Can anyone help? Anyone have this happen before?

I am using both Windows XP and Windows Me, I have 2 HDDs (Maxtor 40 GB each) and they are fat32
Here is the story: after I forced the computer to restart but pressing the button located on the case I found that the master HDD doesn’t boot and I get some thing on the black screen like: ( master HDD failure) , so I switched my salve HDD to be primary in order to be able to boot and install a new windows, but I got this message: (SLAVE failure , press F2 to continue) so it is clear that the first HDD has a problem but I still don’t know what it is.
A got the same result even after installing the damaged disk on another computer.
I decided to remove the damaged one and install windows on the other HDD to be at least able to boot and use windows. the thing is it can be regcognised by the BIOS but not in windows so i dont have access to use data recovery program (the problem is geting access not data lose) in DOS i dont get folders, i only see files in C but not subfolders or any foldrs

They have worked before than all of a sudden they are not working. I am running Win200 Pro, but I went into my device manager and uninstalled the drivers and then re-installed the drivers; but it is still not working. So, I took the computer apart and made sure the BUS was connected correctly and everything is okay with that also. I ran a virus scan and I came up with a couple of viruses that I "Put in the chest". Anyhow.. My drives had worked fine before but now they are not wanting to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a second hard drive I installed in my computer to use for extra storage (pics, music, etc.) will this be safe if my computer should ever crash, get a virus, etc??? Or is a external hard drive a better alternative for backing up files?? Thanks

I can pick up a 7600 GT for $100 and I'm not looking at spending much more than that. However, I've heard that the Nvidia 8600' s are coming out soon. I just don't know if I really need to wait on Direct X 10 cards. I mainly play Guild Wars and Company of Heroes. Thanks!
