I am finally buying my vista premium notebook, but don't know which processor t go with. The computer with the AMD Turion 64 X2 is a bit cheaper than the one with the intel core 2 duo. But i want to know if the AMD is good for games, media center, and my Autodesk applications. I keep hearing the Intel processor is the best, but if its faster than te AMD and will allow me to do games and etc. I wouldnt mind dishing out a little extra for it.

Go with the Intel Core 2 Duo. It will destroy the AMD chip.

Here are some test results of intel and AMD processors, where intel's seem to beat AMD. At the top where it says Choose Benchmark you can see the results under different actions. I just gave a link to how long it took to compress files with winrar since i assumed it's more likely to happen than the others, but you should click and see if there's anything you're more likely to use the computer for. Also i'm assuming the numbers like 1600/800 mean cpu speed and fsb speed in mhz, probably useful since you didn't give a name of the intel cpu.

Intel Core 2 Duo hands down... The Intel Core 2s are just all around better CPUs. Better at games as well as applications (i.e. Microsoft word, etc.). It's definitely worth dishing out a few extra bucks because, for now, this card is "it".

They are the same, Some extra money for Intel is for the name. If the brand name make you happy, go for it.
