I'm using XP on a desktop pc, connecting to internet via a Belkin F507230-4 router & Belkin F5D7050 wireless G USB adapter and I'm only able to achieve 11mbps
I have used this same setup with Windows me on this machine and had no problems.
I'm also using XP on my laptop and have no difficulty achieving 54mbps via the same router.

A few years ago, I was operating my computer during an electrical storm and the power got knocked out. Whenever the power came back on, the computer started up just fine. However, after Windows loaded up, I discovered that all my PCI cards weren't working.

I had a sound card, wireless ethernet card, tv tuner and dial-up modem. Now, it seems none of them work. I've tried hooking them up to other computers and they don't work. Also, I tried putting a working sound card from another computer and it also was not detected.

I assumed the power failure had somehow destroyed anything to do with the PCI slots on the motherboard, including the cards plugged into the slots. It was strange that nothing else was effected including the video card which was in an AGP slot.

Why did the power failure only corrupt the PCI cards and PCI slots?

is it advisable to clean the flat panel monitor with wet water cloth ?

Have run all types of cleanwear programs over and over again, all the spy, anti spam, anti virus , utilities tools,defragmentation, 60% free disk space, Pentium 4, 2.5 GhZ, ram 248, Windows xp. Have tried everything possible plus everything everyone else has tried, no joy. I don`t seem to accept that a computer can decrease so rapidly just after putting it through the internet a few times with so much space available. Does this really justify buying an upgrade?

For some reason with my keyboard 'c' (I used an on-sreen keyboard to type that) key has stopped funtioning. I've taken the key up, there is nothing bloking it, I put a pen right into the hole under the key and fiddled around, still no luk. So if anybody an think about what's going on it would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. Every other key works fine.

I have a cheap, Printer, and a better one, but I dont want to throw away the cheap one, because the ink is cheaper too, but the expensive one give me better photos an text,, what can I do?

first question:i have a old ibm thinkpad running m.e ,its not a bad little notebook for typing tasks but it only has 48mb of ram,i rally want to make it at least 64mb,however the memory required is a edo so-dimm module and i cant find any on the net avalible,is their any sites that do that type of module
secondly,i have a cable and wireless pcmcia network card,but it dosent sem to work on this notebook,is this because of the memory as it cant be the operating system as it says m.e on the box
any ideas ?

I upgraded my system and bought a lap top so have a back up. The old machine P2 with 40 GB hard drive works perfecty and it seems a pity to take it to the tip. The hard drive is formated ready for software installation. Who will take it off my hands in the West Midlands/ Shropshire?
