Your description is vague. What do you mean by slightly crushed? CD's that are not broken should be fine. If they are broken, do not attempt to play them. They spin very quickly and could fly apart damaging your machine or hurting you. Tapes are a different matter. How important is the information on the tapes? How much are you willing to spend? The information on the tape is valid even if the cartridge is destroyed as long as the tape is not damaged. The tape can be rewound and played in a new cassette cartridge. If the cassette is not too badly damaged, you can play it and copy it. Then use the copy. Tapes can also be spliced. You tend to lose information at and around the splice, but then again how important is the information? You might be able to endure some data loss. If it's just music or something like that, you might be better off just buying a replacement. If it's a love letter or your child's voice, then you can find someplace to recover the tape. It will cost, but what's it worth to you?
