There are many ways to do this. The easiest way is to purchase an "air card". This card is sold by the wireless providers i.e. Cingular. It is plugged into your computer in the PCMCIA slot on the side. The card is about the size of a credit card but a little thicker. It will have an antenna that can be moved around for better connectivity. This is a tiny antenna about the size of a toothpick and is built into the air card. The card usually costs around $75. You can easily purchase this device and the corresponding plan at your local cell phone store or online. A monthly data plan is required to use the air card. Speeds are generally not as fast as cable or DSL but close. Another method involved tethering with a Smartphone, Blackberry, Treo, or some other data device. I will save this answer for another day.

1) If your mobile phone is bluetooth enabled and your service provider provides GPRS, you can access it from your laptop
2) If your mobile phone is 3G then you can use EDGE or HSPCD connection if your service provider provides the service
or Using a HSPCD or EDGE pc card directly conecting to the laptop, again this service is provided by the local mobile service providers
