Hardware - December 2006

I have an external usb hard drive enclosure and It works nicely with 3 other hard drives that I have, but when I plug in this Maxtor 120GB hard drive... nothing happens.

Disk Utility detects nothing, there's nothing on the desktop, AND after that nothing else will mount, not even the hard drives that were working before, until I restart my computer.

I am 98.3% certain that the hard drive is functional as I used it just a few days ago inside another computer.

Also, would the Hard Drive being locked cause something like this?
(I'm pretty sure it isn't locked, but it just might be...)

Ok...so heres the deal. I turn my computer on and it just beeps. The fans seems to be going. I tried cleaning it out as well. The beeping is Long spaced about 5 seconds apart. My moniter wont even turn on. I know that works I tried it on another Computer. This Computer isn't even a year old yet! This computer was built for for me it's not through any company that has a support line. I bought the Computer from a repair guy in North Dakota... I live in AZ now, so I can't go back to him for help. Anything will Help! I'm prepared to take it to some repair store if I have too, But if it's cheaper to buy a new one then i'd rather do that. Please help...

I got a laptop on August and it has few problems and I am going to return it. When I get a cash card should I buy another 1 and get Express vista. Or should I wait a month and get it preinstall on the new laptop.

IT HAS ONE PORT FOR THE FLOPPY AND ONE IDE
THE THE HARD DRIVE IS HOOKED UP TO THE ONE IDE
AND THE SLAVE PART WILL NOT REACH EITHER OF THE CD DRIVES, THE HARD DRIVE HAS NO SATA HOOKUPS

I have a hard drive at home it takes slow to load. I own the internet, but I can't get connected to it at home because of the virus. It always pulls up the page cannot be displayed screen. I went online with Bellsouth Technicians they couldn't even help me. Now, I'm convinced its' a virus on my harddrive. I'm either going to have to buy a new hard drive or I trying to wipe out the viruses manually by hitting a few buttons when restarting my computer. im going to buy a new cpu, i know both cpu's ar total crap but i want at least the best my pc can get, will this cpu work? im socket 478pin upga, so is the P4 i linked you too, will that cpu be better than my intel celeron 2.60 ghz?

also im maily wanting this cpu to play counter striek source, right now i get about 20-50 fps depending on what is on screen, will that P4 help with fps, cuz CS:S is a highly cpu dependant game

i have a Dell Inspiron 1150

i know about mirrors and moving the router, i have no access to moving or removing any of those so i need other ways.

please let me know what i need if anything and how much it will cost if anything. The easyiest way possible is greatly appreciated but i'll manage with anything.

i shut off my computer a day ago and when i went to turn it back on it will not boot ,it will not bring up the bios ,all it will do is run the peripherals and my fans but that is it i have tryed replacing the motherboard battery and still nothing will come on at all except what i mentioned above , does any one have any suggetions ?
