Microsoft Word is a word processing application. It is used to type documents and create basic tables. It's main Pros are it's ease of use and that it's used by about 90% of computer users who require word processing.

It's Cons, it's part of Microsoft Office and is expensive. It also has some security loop-holes and therefore, as with Windows, needs to have updates installed when they are available.

There are other word processors available, some for free, but my preference is Microsoft Office (especially 2007!)

Ad the above answer says. It is very easy to use whether in a basic form or has in depth functions that would take you weeks/months to master....it's up to the individual user. Most functions are self explanatory by clicking on the menu bar at the top op the page and even give simple notes by hovering the cursor arrow over them , why don't you enquire at your local college which should provide courses for beginners/intermediate/advanced users evening classes. You can also check out MS own website

its a word processor, for writing letters, documents, presentations etc, It's office standard, made and suitably priced, by microsoft corp. There's an annoying paper-clip that hops about all over the place with "helpful tips on how to write a letter etc" but its pretty good apart from that.

There is a free alternative, called open office, available from:-
http://download.openoffice.org/ which is just as good and should also be considered
