My old cd-rom drive has crapped out and I'm looking into buying a new one (fairly cheap, if possible). Any suggestions?

My Dell laptop Inspiron 1000 was switched off during a system restore to an earlier date. Now when attempting to load Windows XP, a blue screen appears: "Bad Image Checksum. The image comctl32.dll is possibly corrupt." I can get into various menus by pressing F12 or F2 during startup but can't figure out how to reload my system disks. I've tried reconfiguring to an earlier known good configuration, loading system defaults, etc & now feel as a last resort I have to reload using disks. I guess it will erase all personal files? Please help---and thanks in advance for your time & advice.

The PC is a 2003 desktop HP, with 128 meg of ram, and I think a 64 meg video card. I like to be able to do more gaming.

I just acquired an old Apple. and after turning it off, when I tried to re-boot, a pic of a floppy disc w/a flashing question mark is as far as it'll get. I can't go anywhere else and I don't know how to bypass this. I am Apple-ignorant.
It's a Power Macintosh 6500/250 Home Edition. 250 MHz, 256K Level 2 Cache, 32MB RAM, 2MB SGRAM vid memory, 4GB hard drive, floppy disc drive and 24x CD-ROM.

Hi everyone

Samsung is making a monstrous 19" laptop M70 with the detachable screen. Can anyone explain me in plain english how the lcd monitor is drawing power when it is detached from the base. I understand how it is getting the video signal. However confused about the power. Does it have to be connected with another cable to electrical outlet or it has a rechargeable batery? Or anyhting else?

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks in advance

It will go from like red to green to blue...then it will also change in brightness as well. It's basically new...not even a year old yet and it's a flat panel monitor. It shouldn't be going out on me already >_< What can I do??

When i turn my computer monitor on, the power button on the monitor turns a bright red and won't go on, then the light gets dimmer and dimmer then disappears, i was wondering if anyone knows what is wrong with it, and how to fix it. I tried unplugging everything and checking to see if everything was plugged in already. the monitor just won't go on. If this helps the monitor brand is Cornea.

I am using Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2. I am also on a laptop instead of a desktop. When I am in the middle of something my laptop screen just turns black and is off. When I turn on my laptop I get no error message saying that my computer crashed and/or it has recovered from a serious error.
